The Jefferson College of Health Professions at Thomas Jefferson University invites applications for the position of Endowed Professor of Nutritional Sciences in the M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetic Practice (MS/RDN) program, which is housed on the Center City Philadelphia campus.
In March 2019, Jefferson’s MS/RDN program was recognized by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) as an early adopter demonstration program. The program has been granted candidacy for accreditation status based on ACEND’s Future Education Model Accreditation Standards for Graduate Programs and welcomed its first cohort in fall of 2021. The program curriculum is grounded in competency-based education that integrates didactic and supervised learning experiences necessary to prepare students for entry-level practice as registered dietitian nutritionists. The Endowed Professor will engage in teaching and scholarly activities supporting the MS/RDN program.
The MS/RDN program will be an integral part of the Jefferson College of Health Professions (JCHP). All JCHP programs feature state-of-the-art classrooms and teaching laboratories including access to the Dr. Robert & Dorothy Rector Clinical Skills & Simulation Center as well as the Jefferson Center for Interprofessional Practice & Education. The JCHP programs reflect the University’s commitment to educate future healthcare professionals prepared to perform at the highest quality and according to ethical standards for contemporary practice in the global community. The College is committed to innovative teaching, a culture of clinical excellence through interprofessional education and practice, integrated experiential learning, and evidence-based practice.
The Endowed Professor will be highly involved in soliciting external funding, engaging in scholarly activities, stewarding relationships with stakeholders, teaching courses in the program, and supporting processes required to maintain the program’s accreditation status. The Endowed Professor will be responsible for various aspects of professional and academic leadership related to the MS/RDN program, including: conducting nutrition research; developing and implementing nutrition-related initiatives and projects; recruiting community support; teaching courses and advising students within the program; and participating in interprofessional innovations in education and scholarship within the Jefferson College of Health Professions. The Endowed Professor will collaborate closely with faculty and report directly to the Program Director.
The Endowed Professor will be awarded the Debra Hollander Professorship in Nutritional Science. A doctorate in Nutritional Sciences or a related field is required. Current CDR registration and eligibility for licensure as a registered dietitian nutritionist in Pennsylvania are strongly preferred. The successful applicant should have a minimum of 5 years of full-time college/university experience with knowledge of accreditation standards and implementation; a record of active service/contribution in the academic, research, and professional facets of the nutrition field; strong written and oral communication skills; a record of excellence in teaching; and evidence of relevant administrative experience and managerial skills. Clinical and management experience within the field of dietetics are highly preferred. We aspire to create a diverse and inclusive environment, knowing this is imperative to achieving excellence in education and patient care; we will prioritize candidates who have demonstrated experience in research, teaching, and/or service to historically underrepresented communities.
The position is a 12-month, full-time, tenure track-eligible appointment beginning July 1, 2022. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
Review of applications to fill this position will begin immediately. Interested applicants should also submit an on-line application/CV: http://hr.jefferson.edu/human-resources.html Job ID # 9261367
