The Registered Dietitian (RD) provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to clients in Project Angel Food’s various programs. The RD also works closely with a team of Dietitians to provide services based on the needs of Project Angel Food and as stipulated by the quality assurance manual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Works with a wide range of nutrition-related diseases and populations. Proficient knowledge of Congestive Heart Failure and Chronic Kidney Disease preferred.
Performs client nutrition assessments and follow-ups by phone and/or in clients home on a daily basis.
Works with other departments at Project Angel Food to ensure clients are receiving appropriate meals and information when necessary.
Interacts with clients’ health care providers on a regular basis as needed.
Refers and advocates for clients to other service providers when appropriate.
Conducts monthly kitchen inspections for quality assurance evaluations.
Works with the Nutrition Services team on menu development, new program implementation, surveys, and data evaluation.
Works closely with local organizations involved in nutrition research and/or care for patients with a variety of serious health conditions.
Participates in department, agency and other meetings as appropriate.
Performs other duties as necessary.
Skills and Abilities
Registered Dietitian with community experience and knowledge of serious illnesses
Knowledge of Food Service and Quality Control.
Sensitivity to the circumstances and needs of people living with serious illnesses.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Flexible in adapting to changing situations.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to interact with individuals in a culturally diverse environment.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Familiarity with MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Must have reliable transportation, valid license, auto insurance and proof of good driving record. Must be comfortable going to clients' homes throughout Los Angeles County.
Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
