The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition has created a new and exciting opportunity for a full-time nutritionist. As a key member of the newly expanded Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team, the nutritionist will be responsible for providing skilled nutritional care and counseling to pediatric patients and families affected by Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The candidate will have the opportunity to help build and grow this new program.
Generate and oversee nutritional treatment plans for children/families with IBD as their primary dietitian, spanning the therapeutic spectrum from primary dietary therapy to comprehensive nutrition support.
Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments of children with IBD
Define and develop evidence-based practice of dietary therapy as primary treatment modality in pediatric IBD, including appropriate application
Monitor progress of nutritional care regimens
Obtain and maintain expertise in current advances in evidence-based nutritional management of pediatric nutrition, especially as it pertains to IBD.
Acquire knowledge of best practices through literature review and conference attendance
Educate fellow professionals of current dietary practices in IBD
Serve as trusted resource for pediatric IBD nutrition
Develop educational products, including patient resources, as well as professional presentations
Carry out critical administrative duties for the pediatric IBD program, including
Coordinate patient visits and respond to phone calls
Maintain orderly and accessible nutritional care plans
Broadly assist in the creation, management and development of the Pediatric IBD Program.
Guide members of the pediatric GI division and other members of the Department of Pediatrics in matters of nutritional care in IBD.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with peers and informed parents from around world to assure world-class leading approaches in our Center.
Network with centers advanced in nutritional therapy in IBD
Lead educational events for parents and colleagues locally and regionally
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience
Certified Dietitian or Certified Nutritionist
