Serve as an assistant to the Director of Sports Nutrition for the football program while supporting the goals and initiatives of the sports nutrition program.
Provide nutrition education, medical nutrition therapy and outreach to football student-athletes and staff including cooking classes, grocery store tours, social media and nutritional intervention at training table meals.
Assist with the nutrition demands around weigh-ins, lifting sessions, pre/post practice meals/snacks, pre and post-game fueling and travel.
Individual consultation with student-athletes that need specific nutritional goals.
Manage football fueling station including inventory, purchasing, and distribution. Ensure that fueling station is staffed with interns and the food is rotated and stocked as needed in compliance with health and safety guidelines. Assist in supervision of football athlete consumption of nutrition products, including meals and snacks.
Collaborate with Sports Nutrition staff and Director in budget maintenance and forecasting.
Develop and provide nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or events on various topics related to nutrition for optimal performance.
Provide spreadsheets for maintaining the sports nutrition budget and keeping weekly records of daily inventory and product allotment.
Educate and evaluate football athletes on maintaining a level of lean muscle body mass, body fat and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and good performance.
Work closely with the nutrition internship program in scheduling interns, volunteers and practicum students.
Maintain open, on-going communication with the Director of Sports Nutrition, sport coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, sports medicine and team physicians.
Serve as an assistant to the Director of Sports Nutrition for the football program and any other duties that may arise as assigned by the director.
Comply with all NCAA, Big 12 and Texas Tech University rules, regulations and policies. Position Description Performs responsible work in the development of all aspects of sports nutrition for teams and individual athletes in the Intercollegiate Athletics Department under direct supervision of the Director of Sports Nutrition.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Nutrition related field and one year of related experience. Competitive playing/coaching experience and/or consulting experience may exchange for education on a year to year basis. Must obtain RD within 6 months of hire. CSSD obtained within 2 years of hire.
Must have Registered Dietitian credential through CDR.
At least one (1) year of experience working nutrition in collegiate or professional athletics.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience in budgeting and forecasting of nutrition programming.
Master's degree in Sports Nutrition and/or Kinesiology-related field.
