Responsible for providing leadership to the Patient Food Service Department and for management of its human, material and financial resources. This leader is expected to role model the organization values of care, quality, stewardship, accountability, integrity and courtesy. S/he is also expected to formulate a plan for the operation of his/her Department that is in alignment with Lakeland Regional Health's vision (Creating the Best Health Care Experience), core purpose/mission (Improving Lives by Delivering Exceptional Health Care), and which supports and is fully integrated with organizational strategic plan and operational goals and objectives. Work collaboratively with other leaders within the center and throughout the Hospital to achieve Department, center and Hospital-wide quality, satisfaction, and financial goals. Assists the Director of Food and Nutrition services in the effective management of all Patient Meal Service. Coordinates clinical and administrative aspects of the department in establishing and maintaining efficient and effective operations, which meet the needs of patients and complies with hospital, departmental and regulatory requirements. Manages resources to ensure fiscal, operational and quality outcomes are consistently achieved. Leads and manages the supervisors/WTLs and facilitates a team approach to management; Contributes to positive outcomes and meeting the cultural expectations of the organization by exhibiting professional behavior and food service/nutritional expertise. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates accountability for overall departmental operations and/or organization-wide functional responsibilities within the system to support achievement of organizational priorities. - Coaches team leaders, direct reports and team members to create a productive work environment. - Creates a high performing team by building strong relationships, mobilizing others to action and effectively leveraging the talent of their team. - Manages and supports conflict/issues resolution implementing appropriate corrective actions, improvement plans and regular performance evaluations. - Demonstrates capacity to manage change resistance and break down barriers to effective improvement and transformation. - Serves as a mentor for a healthy and safe culture to advance system, department and service experience. * Standard Work Duties: Manager - Patient Nutrition Services - Manage and evaluate the performance of the patient food service staff, and supervisor/WTL staff and provides management direction to them for any personnel action. - Develop menus to meet budgetary requirements, nutritional guidelines, therapeutic restrictions and customer preference. - Manage the department's Patient Food Services program, ensures that practice standards are appropriate to provide optimum quality service to patients. - Conducts monthly meetings with staff to communicate appropriate information and acknowledge positive behaviors and opportunities for improvement. - Creates a cooperative working environment through team development motivates staff to meet departmental goals and objectives, and pursues ideas for improving area services. - Demonstrates knowledge of LRH's key software applications and exhibits information management competency sufficient to perform role. - Manages the department's Patient Food Services program, ensures that practice standards are appropriate to provide optimum quality service to patients.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Essential: * High School or Equivalent Nonessential: * Bachelor Degree
Education equivalent experience: Nonessential: * Bachelors degree in hotel. Restaurant, and institutional management or related field preferred. Similar knowledge/skills gained through equivalent years of experience considered.
Other information: Experience Essential: - 10 plus years' progressive food service management experience (preferably in a healthcare facility) managing over 20 subordinates.
Certifications Essential: ServSafe (must be completed within 6 months of hire)
Certification Preferred: HACCP Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association.
