About Bard Counseling Services: We are a diverse staff that includes five counselors from different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Our team is joined by a psychiatrist, a nutritionist, a graduate level intern, and a Director of Wellness with whom with collaborate. We place a high value on developing creative and innovative programming, including groups, workshops, and events. We are committed to principles of social justice, which is consistent with the college’s values as well.
Bard Counseling Services is hiring a full-time mental health counselor beginning in the 2019-2020 academic year. This is a four day per week, 10-month permanent position from August through May and includes the following responsibilities:
Provide individual, group, and couples counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and consultation with other departments and groups, including faculty, deans, and student activities groups. There is an on-call component to the position which includes providing crisis consultations on the phone on evenings and weekends as part of the after-hours rotation for all counseling staff. The counselor will also develop and deliver educational presentations and workshops to students, staff and colleagues, and possibly provide training and supervision of graduate interns.
In addition, the counselor will be expected to display a commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
Licensed to practice counseling independently in New York State, or if from out of state, New York licensed-eligible within one year after hire (LCAT, LCSW, LMHC, Licensed Psychologist)
Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a team of professionals
Experience with topics specific to men’s (including male-identifying students) mental health and identity
Experience and interest in working with communities of color and other diverse populations
Ability to maintain up to date and accurate documentation
