This Clinical Research Assistant I will be responsible for:
Consenting and recruiting study participants through personal interviews (by telephone and in-person) including written communications with patients/families. Providing detailed background information regarding studies to families, communicating all policies and procedures. Evaluating suitability of prospective study candidates and making selections based upon clinical knowledge of each study.
Serving as liaison to the families/patients in the research studies, conducted at both on-site and off-site locations, guiding and advising them throughout each phase of the study. Coordinating follow-up visits as necessary. Acting as a resource to study participants throughout the study.
Coordinating and preparing the necessary documentation for Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Committee on Clinical Investigations (CCI) submissions with the Private Investigator of the study.
Measuring study outcomes according to standard operating procedures. Creating and preparing data collection statistical reports for distribution to study research team for review and analysis; performing data entry and quality control tasks; assisting registered dietitians who monitor production and service of research diets.
Participating in the training of newly hired research study assistants.
Coordinating activities between the hospital and research laboratories to ensure correct testing/processing. Communicating project policies and procedures to personnel.
Performing other administrative duties such as scheduling study visits, completing case report forms, labeling and filing study documents and maintaining study inventory.
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.
The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in which the information or problems are moderately complex to complex.
Well-developed communication skills in order to provide critical information to patients, effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, and the ability to mediate fair solutions.
Advanced writing skills.
The ability to travel between study centers in Boston and Ashland, MA (flexibility in work hours based on requirements of the study protocol).
The Clinical Research Assistant I will provide operations support for a controlled feeding study on how diet affects body fat working on the research team in the New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center.
