At the Everett Clinic, we are committed to excellence in diabetes care. Our Diabetes Education program has a team of highly trained CDEs (both RN and RDs). The person in this position, as part of this Diabetes Education team, will work closely with five Endocrinology providers, as well as, support our Primary Care providers. Primary responsibilities include diabetes device management for insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. Work will include teaching both in class and individually, and from basic education to advanced management following our insulin protocol. Overview: Under general supervision, responsible for education on diabetes device management for insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors in individual and group settings. As part of the Diabetes Education team, works closely with the Endocrinology providers as well as support of Primary Care providers.
Schedule: Flexibility for 30 - 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Available to teach occasional evening classes.
The first two weeks of training require full time Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm. This is not optional. Please ensure you available to attend training before applying to this position.
Essential Functions: Provides one-on-one consultation for patients on diabetes devices Provides Diabetes Self-Management Education and Medical Nutrition Therapy as per provider referral Teaches diabetes classes Provides appropriate documentation in Epic Works with diabetes education team to develop comprehensive diabetes device program Actively interacts with physicians and staff, promoting a team approach to medical care. Follows up on requests for diabetes or nutrition information from teammates and patients promptly via phone, email or MyChart Promotes positive interpersonal relationships with fellow teammates, providers, physicians and patients. Attends monthly meetings for Certified Diabetes Educators as well as Endocrinology/Diabetes education combined department meeting Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience: Minimum one-year experience in diabetes self-management education, medical nutrition therapy and diabetes management preferred.
Certificate/License: Current Registered and Certified Dietitian (RD and CD) required. American Heart Association - Basic Life Saving certification required. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) preferred. Device certification with Medtronic, Tandem, Omnipod and Dexcom preferred.
