The Director of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics is a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position (non-tenure track, academic year) involved in activities related to accreditation and management of the coordinated program in dietetics (CPD). The activities broadly include: Leading all facets of the CPD, including maintenance of accreditation; student recruitment, advising, and counseling; formal teaching of supervised practice courses; supervision and evaluation of rotations, as well as coordination with supervised practice sites (foodservice systems, medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, and engagement) and liaison with preceptors for the program.
The Department of Nutrition Science has two ACEND-accredited dietetics programs: the CPD that accepts up to 20 students per class, and the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), as well as an Individualized Supervised Practice Pathway (ISPP) that accepts up to 10 interns per year on a rolling basis. The DPD and CPD share all didactic coursework. Both programs have recently undergone ACEND re-accreditation site visits in 2017. The department is recognized nationally for its vital research contributions to disease prevention and health promotion as well as its outstanding academic programs. Our undergraduate programs enroll 245 students, including majors in dietetics, nutrition, fitness and health, nutrition science, and foods and nutrition in business. Graduate programs enroll 45 students primarily at the Ph.D. level. We are a rapidly growing department with special strengths in the signature research areas of calcium, vitamin D and bone health; population nutrition; appetite, metabolism and obesity; and cancer prevention. Candiates must be credentialied by the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a registered dietitian. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree and 5 years of experience post-credentialing (or doctorate and 3 years’ experience) and have a commitment to excellence in preparing students for careers in nutrition and dietetics. Experience in directing and/or familiarity with the accreditation process of an ACEND-accredited program preferred but not required. In addition to teaching excellence, the successful candidate would also be expected to contribute to the research and engagement missions of the department and the University.
