The Principal Dietitian (RD), NICU is providing nutritional care to patients in various disease states and conditions. Monitors, assesses, and optimizing nutrition status based on current medical condition and/or nutrition adequacy. Confers with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate medical and nutritional needs and recommend tube and intravenous feedings and/or dietary supplements. Responsible for annual competencies and education to tech staff. Responsible for quality improvement processes to meet regulatory requirements.
The Principal Dietitian (RD), NICU will work in coordination with current Principal RD and oversee the technicians working with formula and breastmilk. Will also assist in oversight of and procurement of breastmilk (donor) program to maintain standards for Baby-friendly designation. Serves as an expert level Dietitian for a large specialized area within the nutrition department. Provides guidance and direction to Dietitians, Diet techs and mentors Dietetic interns and students.
A Bachelor's Degree in healthcare administration, nutrition or related field.
Registered Dietitian (RD).
Five (5+) or more years of Registered Dietitian (RD) clinical experience.
Three (3+) or more years NICU experience as a Registered Dietitian (RD).
Strong knowledge of breastmilk and infant formula preparation, storage, delivery, and procurement.
Experience and in-depth knowledge associated with providing evaluation, assessment, and nutritional therapy services within specialty area(s).
Five (5+) or more years NICU experience as a Registered Dietitian (RD).
Supervisory experience with Dietetic techs, Dietetic interns, students, etc.
Experience in annual competencies and education of staff to meet regulatory requirements.
Experience in a multidisciplinary environment.
Experience in quality improvement initiatives and processes.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Shared after-hours on-call responsibilities.
