The Ohio University School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness, in the College of Health Sciences and Professions, invites applications for a full-time, Quantity Foods and Food Systems Lecturer position in the Division of Food and Nutrition Sciences, main campus. This 9-month non-tenure track position begins on August 15, 2018.
The Division of Food and Nutrition Sciences offers two undergraduate majors, Nutrition Science (pre-professional) and Applied Nutrition, which has three tracks in Dietetics, Environmental Nutrition, and Culinary Nutrition. The Division has a traditional Master’s program and a Combined Master of Science and Dietetic Internship program. The dietetics track and the dietetic internship are ACEND accredited.
The Division is seeking a student-centered, innovative faculty member (RDN preferred) with teaching experience (typical load 8 courses/year) and a strong interest in facilitating growth in our Environmental and Culinary Nutrition tracks. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in teaching face-to-face, blended, and online courses. A primary role of the lecturer will be to provide quantity food lecture and laboratory instruction to undergraduates in all of our majors. Additional course instruction in food systems is targeted towards culinary and environmental track students, which includes a freshman survey course in food systems and management of experiential learning for upperclassmen.
The Division seeks an individual that will provide expertise and vision for the managed growth of culinary nutrition and environmental nutrition. Growth of these tracks may involve development of recruitment materials, identifying marketing approaches to encourage increased enrollment, and creating meaningful interprofessional collaborations.
The lecturer is expected to be a collegial and contributing member of the Division and School and will perform other service activities as assigned by the Director of the School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness.
Master’s Degree in Nutrition or related field.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
Experience teaching quantity foods production.
A strong interest in environmental issues as they relate to the emerging disciplines of Culinary and Environmental nutrition.
Competence in distance learning and curriculum development/delivery.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
